Street Fighter 6’s EVO 2026 Storylines Worth Watching

By FragCircuit Desk · April 25, 2026

EVO 2026 has the deepest Street Fighter 6 field the series has fielded since 2019. Four storylines define the bracket before pools start.

Storyline one: Punk’s shot at the first ever back-to-back EVO SF6 title. He’s won six of the last eight major SF6 events and looks more confident on Cammy than any character in the field. Storyline two: Tokido’s post-character-switch resurgence on Akuma — a player written off six months ago is now top-three favorite.

Storyline three: MenaRD’s return to form with Blanka pivot. Storyline four: Kawano’s entry as LCS Japan champion via a path that did not exist 12 months ago. Beyond names, field depth is the story — 40 players in the registered field have a top-8 finish at a major in the last 12 months.

The Circuit Take

Punk back-to-back is the favored outcome. Tokido on Akuma is the story to watch. Field depth is the macro signal SF6’s competitive scene is healthy.
