Real-World Assets On-Chain — The $20B Story Few Cover
Tokenized real-world assets crossed $20B in on-chain TVL this month — a category that did not exist meaningfully two years ago.
The breakdown: tokenized US Treasuries account for $11.4B (up 600% YoY), tokenized private credit at $4.2B, tokenized real estate at $2.1B, tokenized commodities at $1.8B. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund alone holds $3.8B of the Treasury total.
Ondo Finance, Maple, and Centrifuge are the other major players. The asset class is genuinely ‘boring institutional finance, on-chain’ — not speculation. For DeFi, RWA is the most important macro story of 2026 because it brings real-yield collateral on-chain at a scale DeFi has never had access to before.
$20B in tokenized RWAs is the most important DeFi story most crypto coverage misses. BlackRock’s involvement makes it durable.
