Chip Industry M&A — The Four Deals Worth Tracking in 2026
After two quiet years, semiconductor M&A is heating up again. Four deals are worth tracking through Q3 2026.
Deal one: AMD’s rumored bolt-on for a midsize networking-silicon vendor (Marvell-adjacent target). Deal two: Intel’s potential FPGA business divestiture. Deal three: Qualcomm circling a small-cap automotive-chip play. Deal four: an as-yet-undisclosed PE-led roll-up of three mid-tier RF semi vendors.
The macro driver is rate-stability — debt-financed deals were uneconomic for most of 2024-25 and are now back in pencilling range. The strategic driver is AI-stack vertical integration: every survivor wants more of the connectivity, analog and packaging stack in-house.
Four deals that, if any one closes, will reset the 2026 chip-industry valuation map. Watch the AMD bolt-on most closely.
