Free-to-play PC gaming has quietly grown up. The 20 we tested broke down to five clear winners, ten honest ‘if you like the genre’ picks, and five we cannot recommend.

Top pick is The Finals (Embark Studios), which keeps the destruction-driven competitive shooter throne it claimed in 2025. Marvel Rivals (NetEase) is the easy second pick — hero design has matured into the most balanced 6v6 shooter on the market.
